Apparently jacking people’s lunches is another uncommon economic indicator. I was totally psyched to read about these anti-theft sandwich bags which come pre-printed with “mold” on the outside to ward off potential pilferers. Unfortunately, they’ve been invented a little too late for some people…

I’m surprised the word ‘porn’ is so small.

What a week. First I start off the week with four different kinds of pig in the porktastic Magical Animal sandwich. And today, I found out that I live in a world where “Bacon Explosion” (pictured above) can and should exist. Things that I am thankful for:

The fact that there are randomly peanuts in our pantry at work today and I kind of feel like I’m at a baseball game.

Observational humor.

My coworker just told me about this fake NY Times that people were handing out on the subway yesterday morning. It’s filled with [liberal media elite] stories that are so-good-I-wish-they-were-true: Education Department Plans National Tax Base for Schools and Maximum Wage Law Passes Congress.

My favorite article, Court Indicts Bush on High Treason Charge, captures what would happen if Bush turned himself in for leading the US into a war with Iraq, knowing full well that there were no WMD.

“It’s taken a lot of soul searching, or more like deep-soul diving, I think is the term. But now I see that it was wrong to lead our nation to war under false pretenses. Millions have suffered for my sins, and I see now that it is only fitting that I should suffer as well.”

Mr. Bush’s self-accusation seems largely to have been plagiarized from years of accusations made against him in the press. It refers to his “political propaganda campaign to sell the war to the American people,” and describes how he and his team attempted to make the “W.M.D. threat and the Iraqi connection to terrorism appear certain, whereas in fact we knew there wasn’t one at all.”

Maybe it’s a sign that political satire isn’t dead now that Sarah Palin is out of the public eye for a little while.

We waited through a not-too-terribly-painful line to vote (for change) this morning in JC before heading in to work. As if fulfilling civic responsibility is not enough of a reason to vote, I was psyched to learn about all kinds of free stuff that you can get for voting (or saying you voted). These include:

Free Starbucks

Free Ben & Jerry’s

AND

Free Krispy Kreme

Although there is some question of the legality of these offers (from “hippie corporations”) and you do have to brave mandatory calorie content postings to set foot in these places, they are still pretty rad.

We’ll be watching the election returns tonight while eating shrimp and corn tacos, blue chips, and blueberry crumble for desert. Notice a trend?
