Portuguese BBQ in Newark

Every summer, my company goes to a minor league baseball game as a sort of “mandatory fun” activity. This year, we went to see the Newark Bears play the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (whose fans are known as “Crustacean Nation!”) Of course, the Bears crushed the Crabs. But before the game, we went out for Portuguese / Brazilian (the two words seem to be used interchangeably in this case) bbq in the Ironbound section of Newark. It was fan-tastic. They had a few huge quasi-open flame pits over which they turned massive grates filled with chicken and ribs. The result was nothing short of delicious: smokey, savory chicken and ribs that fall off the bone. All of which were served with heavenly hot sauce that you can smother-all-over the meat. Good times.
